About the event
"She rides astride the Beast; in her left hand she holds the reins, representing the passion which unites them. In her right she holds aloft the cup, the Holy Grail aflame with love and death. In this cup are mingled the elements of the sacrament of the Aeon" -Book of Thoth Babalon is an enigmatic Goddess often ruminated on in Thelemic writings, but her identity is boundless with purpose. She is called the Great Mother, Mother of Abominations, Scarlet Woman, and Holy Whore. Her works span space and time, shrouded in mystery, passion, and perseverance. From the Book of Revelations to John Dee's Enochian visions to Crowley's Vision & the Voice and Jack Parson's Babalon Working, her presence has inspired and obsessed many magicians past and present. This class endeavors to explore her beginnings, her history, and her story within the context of her interactions and how she continues to inspire modern day worship in her mysteries.
