About the event
This is a 120-minute intermediate level lecture.
Part of the lore of Solomonic magic is that the spirits are sworn to follow the rituals laid out in the books attributed to Solomon because they were once bound by those rituals. The magician not only engages in the rituals by which the spirits were previously bound, but the mythology of the ritual and the costuming of the magician are often intended to create a deeper tie to Solomon or some other mythic figure who the spirits will recognize as an authority. Do we live in a world where new collections of spirits and modes of conjuration can be developed and passed along like those systems we have received from past legends? What faculties and methods can we use to become the progenitors of such systems and how can our own approaches define them uniquely from what came before?
