About the event

Join our panelists - Susan Redington Bobby, David Davis, & Jesse Hathaway Diaz as they discuss Folklore in Film.

About the Presenter:

Susan Redington Bobby is the founder of Professor of Words, LLC, for which she is a freelance editor, a writing mentor, an English tutor, and an online teacher.  She has published Beyond His Dark Materials: Innocence and Experience in the Fiction of Philip Pullman, edited Fairy Tales Reimagined, and co-edited The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. She has also served as the series editor of Tales from Fiddler's Green. Her areas of expertise include literature, film, goddess archetypes, and fairy tales. Her spiritual practice is a mixture of hedgewitchery and Druidry, and she is a cat mom to many cats in this world and the next.

David Davis is the Chief Dirt Whisperer of Porous Palms, the platform through which he shares his interdisciplinary work. He is a Mystic, Folk Sorcerer, Cartomancer, Educator, Writer, and Artist based in Ypsilanti, MI. As an eclectic occultist whose practice spans a wide range of traditions from Medieval and Early Modern Planetary Magic to African American Hoodoo, his work is founded on the principles of Animism and the ethical exchange of cultural elements. At its core, David’s work is a celebratory exploration of identity and place, and the ways they inform our most essential experiences as human beings. This mixture of influences manifests as a diverse and ever-evolving expression of divinity, language, and ritual, resting at the borders of personal and communal realities.

Jesse Hathaway Diaz is a folklorist, artist and performer living in New  York City. With initiations in several forms of witchcraft from Europe  and the Americas, he is also a lifelong student of Mexican curanderismo,  an initiated olosha in Lucumí, and a Tatá Quimbanda. For the last  decade he has been a member of Theatre Group Dzieci, an experimental  ensemble based in NY dedicated to the search for the sacred through the  medium of theatre, and is a co-host on the Radio Free Golgotha podcast, and a co-editor on the Folk  Necromancy in Transmission Series through Revelore Press. www.serpentshod.com
