Johann Georg Hohman is synonymous with the 19th century Pennsylvania Dutch (German - Palatine Deutsch) folk system of healing and sympathetic magic publishing "Der Lange Verborgene Freund" (The Long Hidden Friend) in 1820. However, little is known of "Haus Apotheke" previously published as as democratization of the trifecta of cultural significance for Eastern Appalachian immigrant Germans with a confluence of heart, hearth, and husbandry.
