This lecture will explore the animistic threads of modern queer belonging and spirituality. Using the passages of animistic belonging found in the classic work of queer & trans fiction “Stone Butch Blues” as a starting place, an understanding of animistic belonging in the natural world as a lineage of modern queer identities will be developed. This animistic belonging will be placed in conversation with works of queer spirituality from the Gay Liberation movement to posit the potential for a radical animistic queer spirituality that responds to ecocide and climate catastrophe in the present day.
