The Gold & Scarlet God: Exploring the Benefic & Malefic Aspects of the Solar Current with David Davis

Book 3, Chapter 7 of 'The Picatrix' explicitly describes the Sun as  possessing a split Benefic and Malefic nature — “he repairs and  destroys, and brings both good and evil…” Here, the Sun is set apart  from the other six planets outlined in the same text, which are either described as entirely infortunate (Saturn and Mars), fortunate (Jupiter,  Venus, and the Moon), or more fluid (in the case of Mercury). 

This  class will explore the foundational elements of this dual-natured  current, particularly as they pertain to the Solar presence I have come to call the Gold and Scarlet God. We will discuss their qualities, operations and approaches, as well as a curated selection of mythological and folkloric connections to help contextualize the magical scope of this planetary influence.
