This lecture will dive into the symbolism of the serpent and the goddess, and include a brief overview of the various ways different cultures view the serpent, and tracking ways the role of the serpent has changed over time. We will also discuss themes of the serpents association with immortality, enlightenment, fertility, healing, guardian, and resurrection will be explored through various historical stories.

We will take a closer look at these stories, of how we see both the serpent and the dragon slayer, and how this correlates with the evolving view of the feminine principle, focusing on:
  • Eve in the garden (serpents in the bible)
  • Delphine
  • Medusa
  • Hekate
  • Echidna
  • Etc.

Finally, we will discuss various feminine Archetypes represented by these serpentess stories and their defeat, thus resulting in this very flat, pigeonholed, triple goddess of today. Hopefully we can shift the narrative in our mind, look at folklore with a more critical eye, and confront head on the villification and dilution of the serpent/feminine, giving the goddess back her multifaceted, all encompassing, force of the cosmos she has inside of her. Giving the goddess back her fangs.
